The goals of this proposal (2007-2008 school year) are to improve habitat. The project will benefit chum, coho and chinook salmon by improving water quality and promoting good stewardship among students and local property owners. The project involves: 1) educating fourth and fifth grade students at three elementary schools about protecting salmonid habitat 2) instructing students with hands on water quality sampling, 3) assisting students with evaluating their own sampling results, 4) utilizing students to plant native riparian vegetation and remove non-native vegetation on two private properties.
